Oil PortraitPROCEDUREJanet McGrath will work with you in the planning of the portrait by first considering the size and setting for the portrait. Flexible decisions are then made concerning a formal or informal mood, indoor or outdoor theme and personality of the subject. The client will be shown portrait samples to be made aware of all the options available. An appointment is then made for a sitting using the camera to record various poses and expressions, along with quick sketches and color notes. This usually requires two to three hours. Returning to the studio and working from photographs, notes and sketches, Janet finishes the portrait. For group portraits a color sketch is presented for approval before beginning the painting.
